Prosecutors conduct a thorough reinvestigation into Yoo Ah In’s drug case. Will he be arrested this time?

The prosecution announced the plan to review everything in connection with the drug scandal of actor Yoo Ah In.

According to legal circles on July 4th, the Serious Crime Investigation Department of Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Offices decided to conduct a comprehensive review of Yoo Ah In’s drug case handed over by the police.

Recently, Yoo Ah In was investigated for habitually taking more than 7 types of drugs, such as cocaine, propofol, ketamine, marijuana, zolpidem, and psychotropic drugs (midazolam & alprazolam). However, the court rejected the police’s application for an arrest warrant.

In this regard, a prosecution official said, “We suspect the rejection of the arrest warrant because he took more than seven types of drugs. Therefore, we decided to conduct a comprehensive reinvestigation”.

Yoo Ah In was sent to the prosecution without detention on charges of administering more than 7 types of drugs (violation of the Narcotics Control Act). Earlier in May, the court rejected the arrest warrant application and explained that there was no sign of Yoo Ah In trying to destroy evidence and escape.

As the number of drugs taken by Yoo Ah In increased from 5 to 7, the prosecution began to consider an arrest warrant for him again.

After the arrest warrant was rejected, Yoo Ah In said, “I respect and appreciate the court’s judgment”, adding “I will faithfully comply with the remaining procedures and do everything I can within my responsibilities”.

In addition, it was also reported that Yoo Ah In’s acquaintance Youtuber A had fled to France to avoid the police investigation. The police found that Yoo Ah In gave money to A through another acquaintance so that A could escape.

However, Yoo Ah In denied this allegation and said, “I regret (taking drugs)”. A also explained themselves through an SNS post, saying “I came here (France) to do a dance workshop, make new attempts for Youtube activities, and do research on “Decameron” for a choreography next year”, adding “I’ve never contacted for investigation and I’m really upset about being treated as a suspect, or even a criminal, just because I left for another country.”
