Popular Idol Group Faces ‘Excessive Security’ Controversy… ‘Approached and Pushed Hard, Leaving Bruises on Legs’

On the 11th, a post by a netizen claiming that they were verbally abused and assaulted by the manager of the boy group ZEROBASEONE was uploaded on X (formerly Twitter).

Netizen A, who is presumed to be a fan of ZEROBASEONE, explained that they went to the airport with a camera to take pictures of member Zhang Hao’s arrival. A stated that they took photos without causing any harm to the members, but claimed that the bodyguards and manager approached the fans who were far away and started pushing them.

Another netizen raised similar claims of ‘excessive security’ by the same group’s manager and bodyguards.

A said, “I wasn’t near the manager and was far away, but the security personnel directly approached and pushed people hard, causing three people, including myself, to fall over.” They added, “During the process, my knee got scraped and my shoes came off.”

They also claimed, “The artist’s manager mocked me, seeing my injured knee and lost shoes, as if it were pathetic.” They continued, “Furthermore, the manager pointed at me as if telling the artist to ‘look at that,’ turning me into a laughingstock in front of many people.”

A concluded the post by saying, “I don’t want the artist to be criticized because of this. I posted this in hopes that others won’t experience the same.”

Another netizen, who accompanied A, also claimed, “Several security personnel and managers treated fans poorly. My other companion got bruises on their arm due to the pushing and shoving,” emphasizing that such incidents with security personnel have frequently occurred during public appearances.

Meanwhile, controversies over excessive security for idols and celebrities at airports continue to arise.

Last month, a teenage fan of the boy group CRAVITY claimed they were assaulted by a private bodyguard at the airport, leading to a concussion diagnosis.

In the same month, actor Byun Woo-seok’s bodyguard sparked controversy by illegally controlling airport gates and checking passengers’ tickets in the Incheon Airport lounge.
