K-drama “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo,” led by Lee Sung Kyung and Nam Joo Hyuk, is coming back as a webtoon.
The drama “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo,” which was broadcasted on MBC in 2016, will be returning as a webtoon on KakaoPage and Naver Series.
Starting on June 30th, the webtoon will be available for domestic viewers, and later on, it will also be serviced on international webtoon platforms. It will be updated once a week, every Friday.
The webtoon label “IMXTOON” by “Interactive Media Mix” (IMX), which has been involved in K-content distribution and management in the Japanese market, is producing the webtoon. The up-and-coming artist Mano is in charge of the illustrations. Mano is known for unique and clean art style.
“Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo” is a healing youth romance drama set in a sports university. It tells the story of Kim Bok Joo (Lee Sung Kyung), a twenty-year-old weightlifter who has only known weightlifting her entire life, encountering a first love.
At the time of its broadcast, this drama received a lot of attention for capturing the fresh love and growth process of young people in their 20s. The excellent chemistry between Nam Joo Hyuk and Lee Sung Kyung also contributed to the drama’s success.
As “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo” returns as a webtoon after 7 years, expectations are high whether it can gather as much praise from the public as the original did among readers in 2023.
