On May 25, Park Soo Hong’s YouTube channel “Park Soo Hong Happy Dahong” uploaded a video titled “Jaei and Dahong’s Morning Routine | Parenting and Cat Care Vlog.”
The video showed Park Soo Hong’s 19-month-old daughter Jaei spending time around the family’s famous cat, Dahong.
At first glance, the content appeared to portray a peaceful family morning, with the child and cat looking out the window together and sharing daily moments.
However, the atmosphere quickly sparked debate among viewers.
Many netizens became concerned after noticing Dahong repeatedly showing signs of stress throughout the video.
At one point, Jaei suddenly touched the cat unexpectedly, causing Dahong to become startled and quickly run away.
Instead of immediately intervening to calm the situation, Park Soo Hong reportedly responded by saying: “Jaei follows you because she likes you. You know that.”
Later in the video, viewers also criticized the parents after Jaei played with Dahong’s food and water bowl without being stopped.
According to online reactions, Dahong eventually hid inside a closet as the child continued approaching the cat, leading viewers to argue the animal appeared overwhelmed and stressed.
The controversy became even larger because Dahong has long been considered an especially meaningful companion to Park Soo Hong.
The broadcaster previously spoke publicly many times about how the cat emotionally supported him during some of the darkest periods of his life, causing fans to become deeply attached to Dahong as well.
As criticism intensified, many viewers accused the family of prioritizing childcare content while neglecting the pet that originally helped build the channel’s popularity.
Comments such as “People always say pets get pushed aside after a child is born,” and “Dahong looks terrified and keeps hiding” spread rapidly online.
Following the backlash, Park Soo Hong later uploaded photos to social media featuring both Jaei and Dahong together alongside the caption: “Jaei has grown so much, and Dahong is still the same.”
However, public criticism has continued, with many viewers calling for greater attention to pet boundaries and stress management in households raising both young children and animals together.
