Park Seo-joon’s “The Marvels”, no promotional activities in Korea “Hollywood strike aftermath”

As the release of “The Marvels” approaches in just 6 days, it appears that actors, including Park Seo-joon, will not be engaging in domestic promotional activities

The Marvels“, a Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film set to be released on Nov 8th, depicts the story of three female superheroes, “Captain Marvel” Carol Danvers, Monica Rambeau and “Ms. Marvel” Kamala Khan, teaming up to fight against the villains.

“The Marvels”, a sequel to “Captain Marvel”, promises spectacular team dynamics and larger-scale action scenes, drawing considerable attention. Carol Danvers (Brie Larson), who had been single-handedly guarding the universe against the Kree threat, teams up with Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris), the daughter of her late friend Maria Rambeau, and the teenage hero Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani), who idolizes Captain Marvel. The film hints at their transformation into even more powerful heroes. In Korea, “The Marvels” has been particularly noted for the participation of actor Park Seo-joon, who portrays the character Prince Yan.

However, with the film’s release just around the corner, there has been no sign of domestic promotional activities for the cast of “The Marvels”, including Park Seo-joon. This situation is attributed to the impact of the strike by the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) that began in July. About 160,000 members of the SAG-AFTRA, including actors and broadcasters, are prohibited from promotional activities.

Although Park Seo-joon is not a member of the SAG-AFTRA, he appears unlikely to engage in promotional activities given that most of the actors in “The Marvels” are restricted from promotional activities. Park Seo-joon’s agency is said to be waiting for Marvel Studios’ decision and supporting the film’s release.

Nia DaCosta, the director of “The Marvels”, is planning to meet the Korean press through an online press conference on Nov 7th. “The Marvels” is scheduled for release in Korea on Nov 8th.
