JTBC’s weekend drama Surely Tomorrow, starring Park Seo-joon and Won Ji-an, has once again recorded viewership in the 3% range, extending its run of single-digit ratings. The series has drawn heightened attention in the wake of Park Seo-joon’s previous project, the ₩70 billion–budgeted Gyeongseong Creature, which failed to achieve strong results, putting added pressure on his latest return to television.
Episode 7, which aired on December 27th, depicted Lee Gyeong-do (Park Seo-joon) and Seo Ji-woo (Won Ji-an) finally acknowledging their feelings for each other and beginning a romantic relationship. Marketed as Park Seo-joon’s first romance drama in seven years, Surely Tomorrow attracted early interest ahead of its premiere. However, since debuting with ratings in the 2% range on its first episode on December 6th, the drama has remained stuck in the low 3% bracket through its seventh episode.

In the story, Lee Gyeong-do—who had long concealed his emotions out of fear of hurting others—decides to stop hesitating. He openly introduces Seo Ji-woo to his colleagues as his “current girlfriend,” clearly defining their relationship. Having confirmed their mutual feelings, the couple begins to settle into everyday life as lovers.
Subtle changes in their routines highlight this new phase. Lee Gyeong-do finds himself thinking of Seo Ji-woo when passing a flower shop he once ignored, while Seo Ji-woo smiles warmly at the sight of Lee Gyeong-do waiting to pick her up—small but meaningful moments signaling emotional growth.

Past misunderstandings also resurface. On the day of Seo Ji-yeon (Lee El)’s wedding, the two had moved toward each other but failed to meet, leaving behind feelings of expectation and disappointment. Revisiting that moment, Lee Gyeong-do and Seo Ji-woo realize that the emotions they carried were not one-sided, allowing them to finally confront what they had left unresolved.
New conflict emerges with the reappearance of Seo Ji-woo’s ex-husband, Jo Jin-eon (Oh Dong-min), who attempts a second proposal. Confronted with the engagement ring, Lee Gyeong-do is reminded of feelings he once failed to express, leaving him conflicted.

Rather than choosing words, Lee Gyeong-do opts for action. Knowing Seo Ji-woo’s discomfort with riding alongside strangers, he seeks out Kim Chung-won (Choi Deok-moon), the driver who once stayed by her side, and asks him to return. Reuniting with Kim Chung-won, Seo Ji-woo embraces him, while Lee Gyeong-do watches quietly from a distance. The scene closes with Lee Gyeong-do’s narration: “I’ll find the world you love,” underscoring his unspoken devotion.
Despite these emotional developments, Surely Tomorrow continues to struggle to gain momentum in ratings. With the series now past its midpoint, attention remains on whether Park Seo-joon’s long-awaited romance comeback can turn the tide—or whether the drama will continue to face an uphill battle in a competitive weekend slot.
