On April 1, MBN’s show Exclusive World released a preview clip featuring Park Seo-hwi’s story. In the video, she tearfully explained the circumstances that led her to accept the ritual.
Park Seo-hwi, a Korea University graduate, debuted in 2013 as a member of the girl group LPG before transitioning into a career as an announcer. She later appeared on programs such as Kick a Goal, building a steady presence in broadcasting.
However, she recently revealed that she has begun walking the path of a shaman after experiencing recurring distressing dreams involving her family. She recalled, “I kept dreaming that my family members were dying. When I went to get a reading, the first thing I heard was, ‘You are filled with spirits.’”

Faced with the decision, Park Seo-hwi said she chose the ritual for the sake of her loved ones. “What if I didn’t accept it? My family is everything to me. I’ve lived for them,” she shared through tears. Despite her decision, she expressed deep inner conflict, saying, “I want to live my normal life again, working in broadcasting. But I have to walk this path.”
Her father also revealed the emotional toll on the family, explaining that she has distanced herself after the ritual. “It’s painful. This path is not easy, it’s very difficult,” he said, adding that he feels heartbroken seeing his daughter, who once lived a stable and successful life, now facing such hardship.
The story has drawn attention for its emotional depth, highlighting the personal sacrifices and cultural complexities surrounding shamanism in Korea.
