Popular comedian Park Na-rae has officially stepped down from tvN’s variety show Amazing Saturday after seven years, following her decision to halt all broadcasting activities due to a recent legal dispute with her former managers.
On December 8, a representative from tvN confirmed to TenAsia: “We respect Park Na-rae’s decision to suspend her broadcasting activities. She will not participate in recordings from this point forward.” The network added that approximately two weeks’ worth of pre-recorded content featuring Park had already been filmed, and the production team would “do its best in post-production” to deliver those episodes.
Park Na-rae was one of the original cast members of Amazing Saturday since its launch in 2018 and has remained a core presence on the show for seven years.
This announcement follows her recent departure from MBC’s variety show I Live Alone and comes just days after it was revealed that Park is facing legal issues with her former managers, who are reportedly pursuing a damage claim of approximately 100 million KRW (~$76,000 USD). According to reports, her ex-managers filed a property seizure request with the Seoul Western District Court on December 3 and are preparing a lawsuit alleging damages suffered during their time of employment.
In response, Park Na-rae addressed the situation on her personal social media account on December 8. She explained that two managers, whom she had regarded as family, suddenly resigned in early November, leading to communication breakdowns and misunderstandings. She wrote:
“Thanks to everyone’s help, I finally had a chance to meet with them yesterday. Although many misunderstandings have now been resolved, I still believe that this situation arose from my own negligence, and I deeply reflect on that.”
Park further explained her choice to pause all activities:
“As a comedian whose job is to bring laughter and joy, I feel I should not burden my programs or colleagues further. Until everything is clearly resolved, I have decided to stop my broadcasting activities.”
Her heartfelt statement and graceful exit have drawn mixed reactions, with many fans expressing support and hoping for a smooth resolution to the conflict. Park’s absence will undoubtedly leave a noticeable gap in Amazing Saturday, a show she helped turn into one of tvN’s flagship variety hits.
