According to an exclusive report by MyDaily on January 6, Park Min Young and Yook Sung Jae have been cast as the lead characters in the upcoming drama Nine to Six.
Nine to Six tells the story of a woman who has long postponed romance due to her dedication to work, and the changes and personal growth she experiences in both love and life after meeting a warm and thoughtful man. Through the intertwined lives of diverse characters no different from ourselves the drama explores how people can become one another’s past and future, offering relatable themes that resonate with viewers. The series is based on the Chinese drama The Rational Life, which aired in September 2020. While it was initially known by the original title, the Korean adaptation has officially been renamed Nine to Six.

In the drama, Park Min Young plays Kang Yi Ji, the head of the legal team at an automobile company. A devoted workaholic, she has long pushed marriage down her list of priorities. Although not opposed to marriage itself, she views romance and matrimony as emotional games driven largely by hormones. A rational and realistic thinker, she prefers quiet perseverance over reckless resistance when faced with unfair situations.
Yook Sung Jae takes on the role of Han Sun Woo, a law school graduate who becomes a jewelry designer. Skilled with his hands, he excels at cooking, design, and anything requiring craftsmanship. Calm, mature beyond his years, and refreshingly straightforward, Han Sun Woo embodies the ideal man many modern women dream of dating someone who acts with his heart rather than overthinking, especially when it comes to Park Min Young’s character.

This marks the first time Park Min Young and Yook Sung Jae have partnered in a drama. Previously, Park Min Young gained praise for her chemistry with younger male co-stars, including Park Seo Joon in What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim, Seo Kang Joon in When the Weather Is Fine, and Song Kang in Forecasting Love and Weather, producing a string of well-loved romance series.
Nine to Six will be produced by Samhwa Pictures and directed by Lee Hyung Min, known for works such as Strong Girl Bong-soon, Miracle That We Met, and Miss Night and Day. The drama is scheduled to air on SBS.
