Park Min-young is currently starring in tvN’s Monday-Tuesday drama “Marry My Husband”, which premiered on Jan 1st. In the drama, Park Min-young portrays Kang Ji-won, who undergoes a 180-degree transformation from a wife betrayed and murdered by her husband and close friend to a pioneer of destiny. “Marry My Husband” is Park Min-young’s comeback project, chosen after controversy arose when it was revealed that she was dating Kang Jong-hyun, who was suspected of being the “actual owner” of an affiliate of the cryptocurrency exchange Bithumb.

Park Min-young broke up with Kang Jong-hyun just two days after reports surfaced about her romantic relationship and Kang Jong-hyun’s identity. Although there was controversy when Park Min-young’s older sister, Park, was registered as an outside director at Inbiogen, a company related to Bithumb, Park Min-young’s sister voluntarily resigned from the position when this fact was reported.

Kang Jong-hyun was accused of embezzling about 62.8 billion won from a Bithumb-related company through collusion with his younger sister, CEO Kang Ji-yeon, from 2020 to September 2022 and manipulating stock prices to make unfair profits. He was arrested and prosecuted for embezzlement and breach of trust under the Aggravated Punishment for Specific Economic Crimes Act and fraudulent transactions under the Capital Market Act, and is currently on bail awaiting trial. Park Min-young, who was his girlfriend, was also questioned as a witness in February last year regarding this case.

Park Min-young’s successful comeback with “Marry My Husband” was evident. Park Min-young showed passion and effort by losing weight down to 37kg for her role as a terminally ill cancer patient, which resulted in high ratings. The drama is recording its highest viewership ratings each episode.

Despite appearing to have successfully returned through “Marry My Husband”, Park Min-young once again found herself in controversy when suspicions arose that she received financial support of about 250 million won from her ex-boyfriend.

Nevertheless, Park Min-young personally posted a rebuttal on SNS, stating “Sick of it all“, and attended the drama’s wrap-up party.

Her frontal breakthrough paid off. The January 30th episode recorded an average nationwide rating of 10.7%, peaking at 12.1%, securing the top spot in both the Seoul metropolitan area and nationwide, surpassing its own highest viewership ratings once again and achieving double-digit ratings nationwide.

Additionally, for 4 consecutive weeks, “Marry My Husband” ranked 1st in TV-OTT topicality, and Park Min-young maintained the top spot in actor topicality.

Park Min-young successfully returned through “Marry My Husband”. She seems eager to propose a toast when meeting with reporters. However, it seems inevitable that the controversy will be mentioned. The focus is on what Park Min-young will say in the wrap-up interview for “Marry My Husband”.
