Bang Si-hyuk reminisced about the time when he and Park Jin-young entered the U.S. in 2003, “Back then, we went to the U.S. together. In LA, (Park Jin-young) said, ‘I feel like we’ll make it.’ I agreed. I thought we had already achieved everything we could in Korea.

However, their life in the U.S. did not go as smoothly as they thought.

Park Jin-young explained that the company’s shareholders had initially opposed their U.S. venture. The shareholders said, “We’ll let you use company assets if you succeed with your own money within a year.” However, they both went to the U.S. without any money. They stayed in a small room offered by an acquaintance. Park Jin-young confessed, “We ended up staying there for 4 months. We set up our instruments in the garage and wrote songs. We shared one room.”

Bang Si-hyuk added that during their time in the U.S., he did the laundry and Park Jin-young did other stuff.

Bang Si-hyuk revealed the “sock incident”, “Park Jin-young would roll up his socks and throw them, and I had to unroll the socks. I didn’t want to touch socks that someone else wore, so I told him not to do it. But he kept doing it. One day, I exploded.”

Park Jin-young admitted that at the time, he did not understand why such a small issue like socks would cause so much anger. He added that he was the type to create problems suddenly, while Bang Si-hyuk was someone who took care of everything.

Bang Si-hyuk eventually left the place after the sock incident and returned to Korea. Bang Si-hyuk commented, “If there hadn’t been the sock incident, the history of K-pop might have changed. I stayed in the U.S. because Park Jin-young said he would stay, and I didn’t think too deeply. I had weak determination, so I came back. But he had a strong will, so he stayed and opened the way for the next generation.

Meanwhile, “You Quiz On The Block” airs every Wednesday at 8:45 PM.
