Actress Park Eun-bin, who stars in “The Witch 2” as part of the main cast, revealed her sincere thoughts.

Actress Park Eun-bin answered an interview with Mydaily at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul on the morning of June 17th. “The Witch 2” is an action movie that begins when forces appear in front of the “girl” (Shin Si-a), who survived alone in a devastated secret laboratory and stepped out into the world for the first time, and chase her for different purposes.

In particular, Park Eun-bin, who is named “queen of home theater hits”, is drawing attention as she made her first comeback on the big screen after 9 years since she played a cameo role in the 2013 movie “Secretly, Greatly”.

Park Eun-bin joined “The Witch” Universe as Kyung-hee. Kyung-hee is the first person to accept the “girl”, who has extraordinary power, as she is, let her feel human warmth for the first time in her life and protect her. In addition, Kyung-hee is a straightforward character who doesn’t hesitate to sacrifice for what she wants to protect in the cruel reality and shows the inherent strength of human nature.

In the interview, Park Eun-bin mentioned her first comeback on the big screen in 9 years, saying “The Witch 2’ was not a work that I did with great ambitions. It was a meaningful opportunity for me to work with director Park Hoon-jung for a movie project.

She then confessed, “When I met director Park Hoon-jung for the first time, I asked him why he thought of me when casting for the character Kyung-hee. When my fans heard that I was going to appear in ‘The Witch 2’, they expected to see me play a powerful villain role. I felt so thankful that they had such anticipations for me. In addition, as a person who enjoyed watching the first ‘The Witch’ movie, I also expected to play a new character with some kind of superpower. However, Kyung-hee is such a realistic character. The fact that there was no twist might be a twist itself. Even your swear words might not be enough to damage others (laughs). I thought a lot about what I could show through this work since my character is strong enough to curse to survive.

Park Eun-bin then said, “Director Park told me that Kyung-hee was a really important character since ‘The Witch 2’ already had too many unrealistic points. Kyung-hee is the most ‘human’ person among those who have the evil instinct, the director told me that he needed someone with stable acting. ‘In order for ‘The Witch 2’ to stick to reality, a realistic character is necessary’, he said. He complimented me a lot. I was really touched by his delicate incentives”.

When asked if she looked forward to appearing in the 3rd movie of “The Witch”, the actress said, “If it’s not over in the time planned by the director. Since I haven’t shown anything yet, I also hope to have a chance to perform more”. She smiled and added, “I believe in the director. I have trust in his humanity”.

Park Eun-bin also received a question about her chemistry with Shin Si-am who made her movie debut with “The Witch 2”. Park Eun-bin said, “When I first met Si-a, that friend with white skin gave me a fatal sense. I could immediately feel that the director had chosen the right person to play the ‘girl’.

She continued, “Si-a is an actress who gives off a great spirit that made me want to help her with anything as much as I could. Si-a is really enthusiastic. She didn’t hesitate to ask when she was curious about something. As a person who was told about how she prepared for the movie and her concerns, I just thought, ‘She did great. She really did’. I don’t know if I can have this feeling but I felt really proud of Si-a”, expressing her special affection.

Park Eun-bin has recently been reborn as a “popular star” with her solid acting skills through various works, such as “Stove League”, “Do You Like Brahms?” and “The King’s Affection”, which wrote a new the history of K-historical dramas last year. She was nominated for various awards and swept many trophies.

In this regard, Park Eun-bin humbly said, “I think it has been such a long time since I was named with that modifier. Due to Covid-19, I couldn’t realize how my popularity was during that time”, adding, “At the time I was filming ‘The Witch 2’, I received many congratulations for winning the Excellent Actress Award but it was only until yesterday that I could feel the happiness of being rewarded for my hard work. The day after I received the award, I had to live a new life as a new character in a different genre, so I could not feel the excitement. I’m working hard and enjoying my life day by day (laughs). I’ve stayed awake for 3 days because of my schedule.

When asked to talk about her image as an exemplary student, Park Eun-bin said, “I don’t think I’m a naturally excellent person when I identify myself. I think you don’t like situations where you can’t control them. That’s why I’ve never deviated much in my life, and it fits my nature to just walk the right way. I always have that thought in mind, but I don’t dream of a daily life that is great enough to overturn the normality. I am used to my current life, so I have no regrets or thirst. I’ll be well off in my own way

Regarding her daily life, the actress said, “I like to stay still. There is limited energy that can be used as a human, but lots of energy is needed when acting, so my power seems to just turn off like a discharged battery at the moment it is turned off. Sleeping or resting while listening to music, that’s the way I balance my life”.

Also, Park Eun-bin added, “My college days were all good times that helped me become who I am now. No one looks down on me since my college days. It was my youth, a time when I had to face many things and it made me realize that I should protect myself.”

Park Eun-bin, who debuted as a child model at the age of 5, turned 31 this year. She said, “I thought about what would be different about being in my 30s. Thankfully, when I was 29, I played the role of 29-year-old Chae Song-ah in ‘Do You Like Brahms’ and had time to wrap up my 20s. ‘What did I do in my 20s?’, I looked back and thought that I would spend today and tomorrow just like yesterday. So I don’t think much about age. However, ideologically, I’ve never played a role at my real age in a romantic comedy. I really want to try it once.

Lastly, Park Eun-bin confidently said, “I was asked by someone, “Why do you like challenges so much?”. It is such a strange experience that can break down my monotonous daily life but it’s also a driving force for me to move forward. I will continue to challenge myself and live every day of my life facing various fears.”
