Actress Park Eun-bin, whose drama “Castaway Diva” recently ended, expressed that 2023 was the most challenging yet rewarding year in her acting career
“Castaway Diva” initially faced tough competition but gained viewership traction due to Park Eun-bin‘s performance, reaching a final episode rating of 9.0%. The series, available on Netflix globally, entered the top 10 in 40 countries and consistently ranked in the global top 10 in the non-English TV show category for 4 consecutive weeks.
Park Eun-bin shared her thoughts on the role of Seo Mok-ha, who escapes an abusive father, encounters a mishap and ends up stranded on a deserted island. Despite initial doubts, she successfully portrayed the character’s journey of fulfilling her dream of becoming a singer on the isolated island.
The actress highlighted the unique challenges of the role, including mastering singing, playing the guitar, swimming and using a dialect. She mentioned that preparing for “Castaway Diva” felt more challenging than her previous project “Extraordinary Attorney Woo”.
To prepare for the singing scenes, Park Eun-bin began vocal training in January, taking 43 private lessons over six months. She also recorded nine OSTs for the drama. The actress expressed gratitude for the guidance of professionals and mentioned the improvement in her skills through dedicated practice.
Park Eun-bin considered Seo Mok-ha as a special and influential figure in her life. She expressed the desire to embrace Seo Mok-ha’s sincerity, gratitude for small things, and to cherish the value of life.
Looking ahead, Park Eun-bin is scheduled to hold the fan concert “Eunbin Note: Diva” on January 6th next year at the Olympic Hall, Olympic Park, Seoul. The concert, already sold out, will showcase her refined singing skills and the full repertoire of “Castaway Diva”.
