Park Bo Young confessed, “I had a slump because of Lee Byung Hun. I’m satisfied that I showed a different side of myself.

Park Bo Young shared various stories about the movie “Concrete Utopia” (directed by Um Tae Hwa) through an interview held in Jongno-gu, Seoul on August 2nd.

“Concrete Utopia”, which is scheduled to be released theatrically on August 9th, tells the story of earthquake survivors in “Imperial Palace Apartment” in Seoul.

Park Bo Young takes on the role of “Myeong Hwa”, who never loses faith even in extreme situations.

Regarding her scenes with Lee Byung Hun, Park Bo Young mentioned feeling intimidated by his intense gaze. She recounted how Lee Byung Hun rarely comments on other actors’ performances but once asked her not to break eye contact during a crucial scene. She expressed her gratitude for his guidance but also admitted to experiencing a slump during the filming process due to her admiration for his acting abilities.

Park Bo Young said she felt more comfortable around Lee Byung Hun after completing the filming process. She humorously shared that to prepare for scenes with him, she even set her phone’s wallpaper as “Yeong Tak” (Lee Byung Hun’s role) but quickly changed it after filming.

Besides, the interview touched upon her collaboration with actor Park Seo Joon. Park Seo Joon plays “Min Seong”, Myeong Hwa’s husband who is dedicated to protecting the apartment and his family. Park Bo Young expressed a sense of familiarity with Park Seo Joon, even though they had not worked together before, as she watched his dramas. She also hinted at the possibility of working with him again in the future.

Park Bo Young stated that in “Concrete Utopia”, she aimed to show a different side of herself rather than completely reinventing her image. She expressed the desire to continue exploring diverse roles and stated that her ultimate goal as an actress is to be satisfied with her own performances, which she believes is the most challenging aspect of acting.
