According to industry sources on August 14, the upcoming historical film Dream of a Peach Blossom Land (tentative title) will explore the story behind a celebrated Korean landscape painting created by artist An Gyeon in 1447 during King Sejong’s reign. Park Bo-gum has officially been cast in the movie, where he will take on the role of Prince Anpyeong.
The work depicts Prince Anpyeong’s dream journey to a utopian land, which he described in detail for An Gyeon to bring to life. Considered a cultural treasure of the early Joseon era, the painting also carries historical significance for its calligraphy, featuring 23 poems and inscriptions written by the prince himself.

The narrative will unfold against the backdrop of the Gyeyujeongnan incident, in which Prince Suyang — later King Sejo and son of King Sejong — seized power by eliminating high-ranking officials such as Hwang Bo-in and Kim Jong-seo, staunch supporters of the young King Danjong. Kim Nam-gil will portray Prince Suyang.
The project will be helmed by Jang Hoon, the acclaimed director behind Rough Cut, Secret Reunion, The Front Line, and A Taxi Driver. Production will be handled by Doodoong Pictures.
Park Bo-gum is currently enjoying a standout year, having fueled the “Yang Gwan-sik” phenomenon in Netflix’s When Life Gives You Tangerines, hosted KBS 2TV’s The Seasons – Park Bo-gum’s Cantabile, and showcased a rugged new image as a boxer in JTBC’s Good Boy. He is also in the midst of a world tour for his fan meetings.
