“Pachinko 2” Unveils Trailer With BLACKPINK Rosé Singing “Viva La Vida”

The Apple TV’s series “Pachinko” released a trailer for Season 2 with BLACKPINK’s Rosé performing “Viva La Vida”

Telling a grand-scale narrative, “Pachinko” begins with a story of forbidden love and unfolds an unforgettable chronicle of war and peace, love and farewell, victory and judgment between Korea, Japan and the US. “Pachinko” received a lot of compliments from critics around the world with its story portraying the hopes and dreams of a Korean immigrant family over four generations as they left their homeland for survival and prosperity.

Released on July 23rd, the trailer for Season 2 is set in Osaka in 1945 and features the reunion of Sunja (Kim Min-ha) and Hansoo (Lee Min-ho) and some new faces. In particular, the song “Viva La Vida” performed by BLACKPINK’s main vocalist Rosé played as the background music. Rosé’s version of “Viva La Vida” will be used not only for the trailer but also as the ending song of “Pachinko 2” last episode to give a lingering feeling for the finale.

Based on a New York Times best-selling novel of the same name, “Pachinko” tells about a Korean immigrant family through the eyes of the mother Sunja, who moves to an unfamiliar land to live with dignity. The narrative is set from the early 1900s in Korea to the 1980s in Japan. Season 2 tells the story of Sunja struggling to protect her family when World War II broke out in Osaka in 1945. The story also shows Solomon (Jin-ha), who has to start anew with nothing in Tokyo in 1989, and old Sunja (Youn Yuh-jung) with concerns about her grandson.

Produced in three languages, such as Korean, Japanese and English, Season 1 has proved its quality by winning 11 awards at prestigious award ceremonies around the world, including Critics Choice Awards and Gotham Awards. “Pachinko” Season 2 will feature the appearance of Lee Min-ho, Youn Yuh-jung, Kim Min-ha, Jinha, Anna Sawai, Jung Eun-chae, Arai Soji, Han Jun-woo and the new face Kim Sung-kyu.
