oscars 2026 winners

On the morning of March 15 (KST), the 98th Academy Awards took place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, United States. Conan O’Brien returned as the host of this year’s ceremony. Compared with last year, the 98th Oscars were considered more exciting, highlighted by a dramatic showdown between Sinners and One Battle After Another, as well as fierce competition among Timothée Chalamet, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Michael B. Jordan.

Sinners led the nominations with 16 categories—the highest in Oscar history—surpassing All About Eve (1950), Titanic (1997), and La La Land (2016). The film also set a record for the most people of color nominated for a single movie, with 10 nominees.

At age 30, Timothée Chalamet became the youngest actor to receive three acting nominations since Marlon Brando, and also the youngest to be nominated for both acting and producing in the same year, surpassing Warren Beatty. Wagner Moura became the first Brazilian actor nominated for Best Actor, while Stellan Skarsgård became the first performer nominated for Best Supporting Actor for a non-English international feature film.
