During the February 13 broadcast of I Live Alone, viewers were given a glimpse into Ok Ja Yeon’s daily life. She introduced Bomi as her second cat, describing the feline as bright, cheerful, and extremely curious almost like a dog in personality.
The actress recalled that one day in December, while walking with a friend, they spotted a cat approaching them directly. When the cat came closer, she noticed a wound on its back. At first, she believed it would only require simple first aid. However, after taking the animal to the hospital, she learned the injury was severe enough to require surgery.
After the procedure, the veterinarian informed her that although there was no visible trauma to the eyes, the cat had a visual impairment, making adoption unlikely. Ok Ja Yeon explained that the wound had already begun to rot, so surgery was unavoidable. When she returned the next day to pick up the cat, the vet gently asked if she understood that the cat was “a little different,” explaining that it could not see and might face some discomfort.

Hearing this, she felt certain she had to take responsibility. “When I brought her home, she just sat quietly on my lap,” she shared. “It felt like destiny. The day I met this cat happened to be my birthday.”
Ok Ja Yeon added that she was told the cat might not have survived the winter if she had not intervened. She named her Bomi meaning “spring” with the hope that the rest of the cat’s life would be filled with warmth and new beginnings.
Despite the visual impairment, Bomi has adapted remarkably well. The actress explained that the cat’s other senses have developed strongly, and she has memorized the layout of the house, allowing her to move around without difficulty in daily life.
