Ju Ji-hoon, who stood out from top actors like Jung Woo-sung, Lee Byung-hun, and Ma Dong-seok, was selected as the ‘Actor of the Year 2023.’
This recognition came at the ‘2023 Consumer Day Cultural and Entertainment Awards’ held on the 19th in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Ju Ji-hoon was chosen as ‘Actor of the Year 2023’ and once again demonstrated his status as a trusted and respected actor by receiving the award through the movie “Ransomed.”
Ju Ji-hoon, upon receiving the ‘Actor of the Year 2023’ award, expressed his joy, saying, “I’m very happy and pleased to meet many people through good films this year. I will continue to meet you with good works in the future.”
In ‘Ransomed,’ Ju Ji-hoon played Pan-su, the only Korean taxi driver in Beirut. In this film, he showcased a refreshing car chase action with Ha Jung-woo, who played Min-jun, a diplomat who went to rescue a kidnapped fellow diplomat in Beirut, Lebanon.
Particularly, Ju Ji-hoon received praise for naturally portraying Pan-su, bringing laughter to the audience and exuding a charming humanity.
Thanks to Ju Ji-hoon’s convincing performance, ‘Ransomed’ achieved success by being sold to various Asian countries such as Hong Kong, Macau, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, as well as the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, India, the Middle East, and other countries around the world.
Ju Ji-hoon will return next year in the Netflix original series ‘Trauma Center.’ Based on the webtoon of the same name, ‘Trauma Center’ tells the story of genius trauma surgeon Baek Kang-hyuk, who takes charge of a once-famous trauma team and transforms it into a real trauma center that saves lives. In this drama, Ju Ji-hoon takes on the role of Baek Kang-hyuk, portraying a bulldozer character that doesn’t compromise with reality.
Meanwhile, at the ‘2023 Consumer Day Cultural and Entertainment Awards,’ the ‘Audience’s Choice Actress of the Year 2023’ award went to Im Yoona for her role in “King the Land”.
