NewJeans, professional comeback with clear distinction between public and private matters

Despite the legal disputes between their agencies, girl group NewJeans is drawing attention for their professional comeback, maintaining a clear distinction between public and private matters

NewJeans is set to begin their domestic activities with the release of their new double single “How Sweet” on May 24th, followed by an appearance on KBS2’s “Music Bank”. Following this, they will head to Japan on June 21st to release their Japanese debut single “Supernatural”, which has garnered significant interest as it was produced with the involvement of pop star Pharrell Williams. Additionally, they plan to capture the hearts of Asian fans with the fan meeting “Bunnies Camp 2024 Tokyo Dome” at the Tokyo Dome on June 26th and 27th.

Just a week before their comeback, NewJeans members have shown their support for ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin amidst the ongoing legal battle with the parent company HYBE.

According to the music industry on May 18th, all NewJeans members—Danielle, Minji, Hanni, Haerin and Hyein—submitted a petition to the court on May 17th during the hearing for the injunction filed by Min Hee-jin to prohibit the exercise of voting rights. Although the details of the petition are not disclosed, it is believed that the members, who have a strong bond with Min Hee-jin, view her as a maternal figure. Additionally, the parents of the members are also reportedly supportive of Min Hee-jin, suggesting that the petition likely expresses their support for her claims.

NewJeans also made sure to reassure fans who are concerned about the internal strife. Recently, Minji communicated with fans through the fan platform Phoning, saying, “NewJeans is much stronger than what Bunnies (NewJeans’ fandom) think and worry about! Didn’t I tell you guys that we are bunnies with guts and guns? You know I’m just joking about guns, right? I mean ‘gunshot of love’.This message aimed to calm the worried fans.
