NewJeans’ Minji Feeling Frustrated Amidst HYBE and Min Hee-jin’s Conflict

On the 2nd, through the fan communication app Phoning, Minji expressed, “I couldn’t stand the heat and wished for summer to end quickly, but as the sky gets higher and autumn approaches, I feel unsettled.”

Minji seemed to reference the recent dismissal of Min Hee-jin from her role as ADOR CEO, stating, “There were things I wanted to share about what happened, but it’s already been a week and I haven’t been able to,” adding, “I wanted to tell Bunnies (the fans) who were concerned and comforting me that everything was okay, but I can’t bring myself to do it this time.”

She continued, “It’s frustrating that a day isn’t enough to talk only about good things, and I’m so sorry that I have to go through such unnecessary troubles, unable to resolve anything,” expressing her distress. “Even as I write this, just like yesterday, there’s nothing I can do, and there hasn’t been a single properly resolved matter,” she conveyed, revealing her frustration.

Minji added, “I don’t know how long these unsettling days will continue, but I hope Bunnies and we don’t have to go through such tough times anymore,” concluding with, “Sorry for the late message. Sleep well.”

This is the first time a NewJeans member has directly expressed their feelings about the conflict between HYBE and former CEO Min Hee-jin.

Meanwhile, ADOR held a board meeting on the 27th of last month and dismissed Min Hee-jin from her CEO position, appointing Kim Joo-young as the new CEO. Min Hee-jin’s side responded by saying, “This dismissal decision is an illegal action that directly contradicts the shareholders’ agreement and the court’s injunction on exercising voting rights.”

The replacement of ADOR’s CEO came about four months after the conflict between HYBE and former CEO Min surfaced in April, and the dispute is expected to continue.

HYBE, which owns 80% of ADOR’s shares, attempted to dismiss the former CEO Min at ADOR’s extraordinary shareholders’ meeting on May 31st, citing concerns about a “management rights takeover.” However, the court accepted Min’s application for an injunction prohibiting the exercise of voting rights, and the dismissal was not carried out.
