NewJeans makes Billboard’s 21 Under 21 list “Establish a singular presence in K-pop”

On May 31st (local time), Billboard released its “21 Under 21” list, which features 21 people/teams under the age of 21. NewJeans was the only Korean artist to make the list this year.

The “21 Under 21” list is compiled annually by Billboard, considering various metrics such as album and song sales, streaming numbers, social media exposure and radio/TV reach.

Billboard highlighted NewJeans’ achievements, noting their impressive accomplishments within less than 2 years since their debut. They were described as having established a “singular presence in K-pop”.

In fact, NewJeans reached the top of the “Billboard 200” chart with their second EP “Get Up” last year, marking the shortest time for a K-pop group to achieve this (one year after debut).

They also made it onto Billboard’s main song chart “Hot 100” with tracks like “OMG”, “Ditto”, “Super Shy”, “ETA” and “Cool With You”.

They placed “OMG”, “Ditto” and “Super Shy” in the top 10 of the “Global 200” chart. Riding this wave of popularity, they won the “Group of the Year” award at the “2024 Billboard Women in Music Awards”.

Meanwhile, NewJeans is actively promoting their new double single “How Sweet”.
