Netizens Mocked “8 K-pop Rookies Expected to Perform at Coachella”, “What’s the Standard?”

As a list of “Top 8 K-pop Rookies Expected to Perform at Coachella” was released, netizens found it laughable.

At late night on May 14, a topic titled “8 K-pop groups selected by overseas media to be invited to Coachella” was published on the Korean forum “theqoo”. The topic has since attracted more than 50,000 views and almost 300 comments.

In particular, this topic mentions a list compiled by foreign magazine Elle titled “Coachella 2025: Top 8 K-Pop Rookies That Would Rock the Music Festival”, which includes TWS, RIIZE, BABYMONSTER, KISS OF LIFE, BOYNEXTDOOR, ZB1, Loosemble, and 82MAJOR.

However, most netizens find this list to be laughable, mocking the skills and popularity of the mentioned groups to be “too low” for Coachella.

At the same time, BABYMONSTER and KISS OF LIFE were exceptions to the criticisms, while NMIXX was also brought up.

Below are some comments from netizens:

  • What’s the standard? Loosemble has even worse skills than LE SSERAFIM so they are going to be in big trouble
  • BABYMONSTER and KISS OF LIFE should do well, and I think NMIXX should also be included
  • Can any of these groups sing live? Their overseas fandom don’t seem to be impressive
  • This is the first time I’m even hearing of them.
  • Some of them would do okay, but the rest may become the next LE SSERAFIM
  • I don’t know what the standard is.. Has the Coachella barrier been lowered somehow?
