Netizens Agree With IVE Jang Won-young’s Reason For Not Revealing MBTI

On May 3rd, Park Myung-soo’s YouTube channel “Halmyungsoo” uploaded a new content video featuring the guest appearance of the girl group IVE, who came to promote their new song.

After playing various games and talking while eating some food, they mentioned MBTI. While all the members revealed their MBTI, Jang Won-young was the only person who kept it a secret.

When Park Myung-soo asked for the reason, Jang Won-young said, “Because when I tell people my MBTI, people tend to see me only in that way. So I would rather not take the test. If I ever do take the test, I’ll reveal it here.”

In fact, Jang Won-young has been constantly asked by fans about her MBTI since the trend began, but she has never revealed it before. When the female idol refused to do the test, netizens on X (formerly Twitter), wondered “Is she keeping a mysterious concept?”, but after she explained the reason, everyone reacted, “Won-young is so smart”, “People are too immersed in MBTI these days”, etc.

MBTI is a personality test that categorizes people into 16 types. In Korea, it emerged as a trend in 2020 and is currently the most important information to identify people. In particular, people are even asked to reveal their MBTI in job interviews.

These 16 personality types help people get to know themselves more deeply. However, it sometimes creates a framework for how we look at others or prejudices. Since Jang Won-young’s job requires her to stand in front of many people, such prejudices are rather disadvantages for her.
