Netflix’s Key Words for Korean Films in 2025: “Artistic Value” and “Diversity”

“Please expect the ‘Next’ of Netflix Korean Films”

On October 4, Netflix held the “Next on Netflix: 2025 Korean Films” event at the Park Hyatt Busan, Haeundae-gu, Busan, introducing its new vision and lineup for Korean films in 2025. The event featured Netflix’s Seoul Office Director of Film and Series Content Kim Tae-won, along with creators responsible for next year’s Korean films.

Kim Tae-won explained that the event’s name reflects a positive anticipation for the future of Netflix original Korean films, mentioning that Netflix has released a total of 23 films since “Time to Hunt” in 2020, including recent hits like “Officer Black Belt”, “Cross” and “Uprising”. He stated that based on this experience and insight, seven Korean films will be released next year.

The Korean films set to meet global viewers via Netflix in 2025 include: “Wall to Wall” directed by Kim Tae-jun, “Good News” directed by Byun Sung-hyun, “The Mantis” directed by Lee Tae-sung, “The Great Flood” directed by Kim Byung-woo, “Love Untangled” directed by Namkoong Sun, “Revelations” directed by Yeon Sang-ho and “Daytime Moon” directed by Han Ji-won.

The collaboration with a wide range of creators, from veteran directors to emerging talents, aims to establish a diverse lineup of genres including action, thriller, romantic comedy and animation, solidifying Netflix’s position in the global market for original Korean films.

Director Kim Tae-won noted that the criteria for selecting works were “artistic value” and “diversity”. He emphasized the importance of high-quality storytelling and the inclusion of emerging creators to foster a variety of narratives, avoiding confinement to a single genre.
