On September 23, a Netflix representative told Ilgan Sports, “We are reviewing the possibility of follow-up seasons for The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call, but nothing has been finalized yet.”
Earlier the same day, a media outlet reported that Netflix had already greenlit both Seasons 2 and 3 and was preparing to begin filming next summer.
Adapted from author Lee Nak Joon’s web novel of the same name, The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call follows Baek Kang Hyuk (played by Ju Ji Hoon), a genius trauma surgeon and ex-mercenary combat medic who joins a failing trauma team in an effort to revive it.
Since its release in January, the series has been hailed as one of Netflix Korea’s biggest hits. It dominated the domestic Netflix Top 10 for an extended period and also reached the top spot among global non-English TV shows, solidifying its reputation as a flagship success.
