Netflix Refutes Report About Yoo Ah-in’s Drama “Goodbye Earth” Release In April

Netflix strongly denied the news that “Goodbye Earth”, starring Yoo Ah-in, would be released on April 26th

On March 9th, an official from Netflix said to OSEN, “There’s no fixed schedule for the release of ‘Goodbye Earth’. We will announce the release date through official reports as soon as it is confirmed”.

Regarding the screen time of Yoo Ah-in, they said, “Actor Yoo Ah-in appears as a character that builds the main story. Therefore, we ask for your understanding that it is difficult to provide detailed information about his role ahead of the drama release”.

Earlier on the same day, a media outlet reported that the original series “Goodbye Earth” had been confirmed to premiere on April 26th. However, Netflix denied it and emphasized that the schedule had not been decided.

Meanwhile, “Goodbye Earth” depicts the story of a chaotic world and people living the rest of their time ahead of a predicted apocalypse, 200 days until the Earth and an asteroid collide. The cast, including Yoo Ah-in, Ahn Eun-jin, Jeon Sung-woo, etc., already completed their filming but the production was postponed indefinitely due to the drug case of the male lead Yoo Ah-in.

Yoo Ah-in is accused of administering various kinds of drugs 181 times from September 2020 to March last year. The police believe that the actor received prescriptions and bought sleeping pills illegally from May 2021 to October last year and are investigating people around him.

On March 5th, the Seoul Central District Court held the third trial for Yoo Ah-in on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act. In addition to his drug charge, Yoo Ah-in is also accused of administering propofol habitually, receiving prescriptions of sleeping pills illegally under the name of other people, smoking marijuana, destroying evidence, etc. His accomplice was indicted without detention on charges of taking drugs, threatening and fleeing.
