Netflix Delays New Drama’s Release Event Due To The Press Conference Related To Lee Sun-kyun’s Incident

On January 9th, Netflix released an announcement, saying “The press conference for ‘The Bequeathed’ will be held at Ambassador Seoul Pullman Hotel at 1 p.m. on January 12th”.

Netflix added, “We ask for your understanding that the time of the event has been changed because it overlapped the time of the ‘Demands of cultural artists facing the death of the late actor Lee Sun-kyun’ statement release”.

Director Yeon Sang-ho, who created “Train to Busan” and “Peninsula”, participated in planning and writing the script, while director Min Hong-nam, who worked with Yeon Sang-ho as an assistant director many times, was in charge of directing and writing “The Bequeathed”. 

Starring Kim Hyun-joo, Park Hee-soon, Park Byung-eun, and Ryu Kyung-soo, Netflix series “The Bequeathed” will air on January 19th.

Meanwhile, the Association of Cultural Artists, formed by around 29 cultural and arts organizations, announced that they would issue a statement titled “Demands of cultural artists facing the death of the late actor Lee Sun-kyun” at a press conference held at 11 a.m. on January 12th.

The association plans to request a thorough investigation, ask the media to refrain from issuing articles that do not meet the purpose of reporting, and demand a revision of existing laws to protect the human rights of cultural and art individuals.

Director Bong Joon-ho, singer & composer Yoon Jong-shin, director Lee Won-tae, actor Choi Deok-moon, Chairman of the Korea Independent Film Association Go Young-jae, and Korean Film Producers Association Chairman Choi Jung-hwa will attend the event.

Earlier on the 27th of December, Lee Sun-kyun was found dead in a car at a park in Jongno-gu, Seoul. He was booked by the police on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act but complained of unfairness even after going through three summons.
