Netflix confirms new original series “The Glory”, led by Song Hye Kyo and penned by Kim Eun Sook 

The official cast lineup for Netflix’s upcoming series “The Glory” has been unveiled.

On July 22nd, Netflix announced, “We have confirmed the production of the new series ‘The Glory‘ in collaboration with writer Kim Eun Sook and director Ahn Gil Ho.”

“The Glory” tells the story of a woman whose mentality was crushed due to being a victim of school violence as a child, and the desperate revenge that she carefully prepared her entire life.

Screenwriter Kim Eun Sook, who is famous for penning dramas such as “The King: Eternal Monarch”, “Mr. Sunshine”, “Goblin”, “Descendants of the Sun”, “The Heirs”, “A Gentleman’s Dignity”, “Secret Garden”, “Lovers in Paris”, is dubbed a “master of romance”. With “The Glory”, she challenges a revenge drama. Director Ahn Gil Ho, who has shown outstanding talent in various genres through “Happiness”, “Record of Youth”, “Watcher”, “Memories of Alhambra”, and “Stranger”, is in charge of directing “The Glory”. 

Expectations are high what kind of result the collaboration between writer Kim Eun Sook and director Ahn Gil Ho will be.

On top of that, Song Hye Kyo, Lee Do Hyun, Lim Ji Yeon, Yeom Hye Ran, Park Sung Hoon, and Jung Sung Il also confirmed their appearances, completing a perfect cast lineup. After “Descendants of the Sun”, Song Hye Kyo once again worked with writer Kim Eun Sook. 

Moon Dong Eun, played by Song Hye Kyo, is a victim of brutal school violence and plans to take revenge on both the perpetrator and bystanders. Expectations are growing for Song Hye Kyo’s on-screen transformation as she leads a revenge drama for the first time.

Lee Do Hyun takes on the role of Joo Yeo Jeong, who has a secret backstory. Following Netflix’s original series “Sweet Home”, “Youth of May” and “Melancholia”, Lee Do Hyun, who has consistently shown convincing portrayal of different characters, raises curiosity about his transformation into Joo Yeo Jeong, a man that hides his complex inner side behind a bright appearance.

Lim Ji Yeon plays Park Yeon Jin, the instigator of school violence in the past. After living her entire life looking perfect without a single shadow, she confronts her dark past. 

Yeom Hye Ran plays Kang Hyun Nam, another victim of school violence. Hyun Nam, who had to cut off non-stop domestic violence in order to protect her child, suggests a conspiracy to Dong Eun.

Park Sung Hoon plays Jeon Jae Joon, who along with Yeon Jin destroys Dong Eun’s life, and presents a strong character. Jeon Jae Joon has a wealthy background and lives freely.

Jung Sung Il plays Ha Do Young, Yeon Jin’s husband and the CEO of Jae Pyung Construction. Ha Do Young is caught in Dong Eun’s trap designed for a long time and has to deal with what threatens the happiness of his family.

The story of these characters running towards tragedy caught in the swamp of revenge that Dong Eun carefully crafted with her whole life is already stimulating viewers’ curiosity. “The Glory” is set to be released in 2023.
