NCT Criticized for Excessive Security? Even Locking up Visitors

The security team of NCT Wish is being heavily criticized for their excessively hostile behavior during a recent event.

“Excessive security” has been a hot keyword in the Korean showbiz world recently, with actor Byeon Woo-seok’s issue blowing up to the point of being addressed by the government and airport officials.

Meanwhile, a fan even got a concussion after being pushed by the security team of boy group CRAVITY.

However, it seems that despite the recent controversies, another artist – NCT Wish, has come under fire for this very same matter.

In particular, during the boy group’s latest fan sign event at the COEX mall in Seoul, security guards were shown showing constant hostility toward both fans and passers-by.

These guards would shout at people who take out their phones despite the fansign being “public”, and tell people to get out of the fan sign area despite them having done nothing wrong.

Additionally, these guards even took photos of people in the gacha shop and threatened to report them for harassment, despite the event not even having started and some of the people being there just to play gacha.

According to people at the scene, NCT Wish’s security team even went as far as to lock up visitors in a gacha shop behind the fansign event space. This means that a lot of people were pushed into a small and stuffy area and prevented from exiting.

So far, topics about the situation have spread across SNS sites and Korean forums such as “theqoo”, prompting various negative reactions from netizens.

Comments such as “Then why are they having a public fansign? Are you guys beggars who don’t have money to rent a hall??? Your agency is really weird”, “In the first place, it’s a public fansign so why are they blocking cell phones? And what authority do they have to block people’s cell phones and cameras in a public place? They’re really causing trouble”, and “If they’re going to act like a gangster and make a fuss like that, why don’t they just rent a place and hold the event privately?” can be seen under related topics.
