NCT and tripleS’ choreographer apologizes after uploading critical post “Please practice”

After uploading a critical post, choreographer Choi Hyo-je, who has worked on choreography for NCT, THE BOYZ and tripleS, issued an apology

On July 18th, choreographer Choi Hyo-je left a post on his Instagram story that began with, “I’m not asking you to bang your head and do a headspin to the point of breaking your neck, just comfortably put both feet on the ground and dance. Okay, maybe that’s not possible.”

He added, “But at least you should try. I’ve used every curse word I know but erased them all. Please practice.

He also posted, “I still need to protect them.”

Choi Hyo-je has choreographed for many idol groups, including SHINee, NCT, THE BOYZ and tripleS.

Although he did not specify who he was referring to, many speculated it was tripleS, the most recent group he worked with.

Netizens reacted with comments like, “Posting that publicly then saying you need to protect them“, “If you want to reveal something, do it properly instead of being vague” and “Choreographers work with many idols, so it’s too early to speculate; it could be students or someone from a private lesson.”

As speculation continued, Choi Hyo-je apologized on July 19th, “I apologize for causing concern and discomfort to many with my careless actions. I will be more careful in the future.”

Choi Hyo-je was the performance director for the 24-member choreography of tripleS’ first full-length album “ASSEMBLE24” title track “Girls Never Die”.

At the time of the album’s release, he expressed his support for tripleS members by saying, “Finally, the 24-member full group… Thank you to all the choreographers who worked with us, the 24 members and everyone at MODHAUS involved with this album. Let’s complete this full-length album activity without getting hurt and safely~!!!
