On April 21, Nana took the stand at the Namyangju branch of the Uijeongbu District Court as a witness in the third trial of the आरोपी accused of robbery and assault.

From the moment she entered, the atmosphere turned tense. Facing the defendant directly, she reportedly said, “Is this fun for you?” a remark that reflected both anger and disbelief.

Nana recounted that she was asleep when she suddenly woke to the sound of her mother’s distress.

“I heard her saying, ‘Please leave, what are you doing?’”  she testified, describing the moment she realized something was terribly wrong.

When she stepped into the living room, she witnessed a horrifying scene: the intruder was strangling her mother. Acting on instinct, Nana rushed forward, determined to separate them.

The situation escalated when Nana noticed a knife on the floor. Believing it could be used at any moment, she tried to seize it first.

What followed was a chaotic and terrifying scene. She described how the attacker grabbed the blade with both hands while she struggled to control it with one. With her strength limited, she resorted to hitting him and swinging in desperation. Eventually, her mother regained consciousness and joined the fight resulting in all three grappling over the weapon.

“We kept shouting for help, but no one heard us,”  she said, recalling the prolonged fear and helplessness of the moment.

Despite the overwhelming danger, Nana managed to shift tactics. Instead of continuing the physical struggle, she began pleading and calming the attacker, convincing him to let go of the knife. At the same time, she silently signaled her mother to call the police.

The intruder, injured during the struggle, reportedly begged for his life. Nana chose to stabilize the situation until authorities arrived a decision that may have prevented further harm.

The case remains complicated.

The defendant admits to entering the house but denies intent to commit robbery and claims he did not initially carry a weapon. He has also filed a counter-complaint against Nana, alleging attempted murder and aggravated assault.

However, police have already ruled Nana’s actions as self-defense, clearing her of charges. In response, she has filed a counter-suit for false accusation.
