The first trial related to drug allegations against former WINNER’s Nam Tae Hyun and ‘Heart Signal 3’ participant Seo Min Jae will be held in October
The 7th Criminal Division of the Seoul Western District Court is reportedly scheduled to hold the first trial on October 19th for the drug law violation allegations against Nam Tae Hyun and Seo Min Jae.
Previously, the 3rd Criminal Division of the Seoul Western District Prosecutor’s Office indicted Nam Tae Hyun and Seo Min Jae without detention on August 31st on charges of violating drug control laws.
The prosecution stated, “Both individuals confessed to purchasing and consuming meth via social media. Nam Tae Hyun voluntarily entered a rehabilitation facility and appeared on broadcasts to promote awareness of drug dangers. Seo Min Jae, a first-time offender who cooperated actively with the investigation, was considered for non-detention during the trial.”
“They are accused of jointly consuming meth at Seo Min Jae’s place in Seoul’s Yongsan District in August 2022. Additionally, Nam Tae Hyun faces allegations of consuming meth abroad in December 2022.”
Earlier in May, the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul applied for arrest warrants for both Nam Tae Hyun and Seo Min Jae, but they were denied by the court.
Later, Nam Tae Hyun revealed that he had joined a drug addiction rehabilitation center through video content on the YouTube channel “kizzle” released on August 24th. He confessed, “I took medicines prescribed by psychiatrists for 10 years, so the line between medicines and drugs slowly faded away. And because of that, I got my hands on drugs. My life pattern really changed. When I was living alone, I would sleep whenever I wanted, wake up whenever I wanted, and drink whenever I wanted, but I can’t do all of those here and I felt so guilty of breaking the rules that people wanted to keep as humans.”
