Taiwanese Public Television’s Taiyu Channel held a press conference today for the launch of its new drama “Nice Play”. The event was attended by actors Huang Teng-hui, GAGA, beloved cheerleader Nam Min-jeong, and Hsiao Ching. During the press conference, Nam Min-jeong not only addressed whether she would remain with the Fubon Angels next year, but also shared an uncomfortable memory from her time as a cheerleader in Korea—she had been groped by a fan, and urged fans to respect boundaries and not make cheerleaders feel uneasy.

Nam Min-jeong, also known as Xiao Nan, had previously injured her ankle. At the event, she gave an update on her condition: “It’s better now, I’ve been receiving treatment. I can’t go into too much detail, and I wasn’t hospitalized. After twisting my right ankle, I overused my thigh which caused muscle cramps and led me to the medical station. Thank you all for your concern.”

When asked whether she would stay with Fubon next year, Xiao Nan replied: “I’ve never imagined myself wearing another team’s jersey. Fubon is my home.”

Nam Min-jeong also commented on a recent incident involving her teammate Lee Joo-young, who was reportedly hugged around the waist by a fan.

“There have been similar cases of harassment in Korea too. This kind of behavior is not acceptable. I hope fans can be mindful of boundaries. About five years ago, there was a fan who groped me—and several other cheerleaders—on the buttocks. Someone on-site immediately informed the team staff to handle it.”

She added thoughtfully: “People might think cheerleaders live a glamorous life, but we also have to deal with a lot of tough situations. I hope the rookies on this show can face their low points with courage, and I hope to see them on the same stage one day.”

When asked about baseball player Chen Chen-wei’s successful proposal to his girlfriend Chiu Chiu, Nam Min-jeong responded with a tinge of melancholy: “I’m number 98 too, just like Chen Chen-wei. Chiu Chiu is number 49—that’s half of his. But where is my other half?”

She expressed her hope to one day meet her life partner.
