Most Followed Korean Tiktoker Is Facing Court Trial For Sexual Assault

Seo Won-jeong, who is active on the short video platform TikTok with the handle @ox-zung, is Korea’s most-followed TikToker with over 55.6 million followers.

Famous for his “Mama!” shout while reacting to and recreating other creators’ content, Seo Won-jeong gained huge attention both domestically and internationally.  In May of this year, he was even named among Forbes’ “30 Under 30 Asia” list – an evidence of his explosive popularity.

Meanwhile, fans of Seo Won-jeong have noticed an oddity. Normally, TikTokers need to produce video constantly to retain their following and be boosted by the algorithm. However, Seo Won-jeong has published no new video since July 22 of 2023, causing viewers to worry and wonder about his current whereabouts.

On December 22, however, it was revealed that Seo Won-jeong is facing a court trial for sexual assault.

In particular, SBS reported on the same day that an influencer, alongside another man, was arrested by the police after forcing themselves on a woman. According to said woman, she had drinks with the two men, was taken to their home, and woke up as she heard recording noises, only to discover herself getting assaulted by both men.

SBS did not reveal the identity of the influencer, but their description of his contents, as well as inclusions of blurry images of Seo Won-jeong was enough for netizens to identify him.

As of December 15, Seo Won-jeong is facing a prison sentence of up to 7 years for sexually assaulting an unconscious victim. He initially faced charges with illegal filming, but these have been dropped after lack of evidence.

The final court hearing will be held on January 17, and as of the moment, Seo Won-jeong is insisting that the sex had been consensual.

Meanwhile, there have been no official statements released from Seo Won-jeong and his management agency.
