More than 110 Victims of Fan Meeting Scam “Suffered Sexual Harassment While Trying to See Byun Woo-seok”

Fans of actor Byun Woo-seok have fallen victim to illegal ticket scams, with the total amount of damages reaching 90 million won. Some victims even received obscene videos instead of tickets, adding to the shock

According to JTBC’s “Scandal Supervisor” on June 19th, the ticket sales for Byun Woo-seok’s fan meeting began on May 27th, drawing 700,000 visitors for the 8,000 available seats.

Fans who failed to secure tickets turned to online resale platforms, where ticket prices skyrocketed to as much as 9 million won—far above the original price of 77,000 won.

Scammers took advantage of this demand by demonstrating their successful ticket purchases to gain buyers’ trust. They claimed they would refund the money if there were any issues but then disappeared after receiving payments without transferring the tickets.

Victim A said, “I asked for proof of purchase, and they provided date and time details which seemed credible.” However, it turned out these details were fabricated and edited after payment was made.

When victims requested refunds, scammers mocked them. One scammer sent an obscene video of themselves and suggested settling the matter with it, even demanding explicit photos from the victims in return.

One victim expressed, “I knew it was illegal, but I wanted to support my favorite actor. It’s heartbreaking that people exploit such emotions.”

An open chat group for victims now has over 110 members, with total confirmed losses exceeding 90 million won.

Lawyer Park Ji-hoon noted that online illegal ticket transactions are challenging to regulate, especially when scammers operate from overseas servers. He advised against engaging in ticket resale to avoid being scammed.

Meanwhile, Byun Woo-seok, who recently gained fame from tvN’s drama “Lovely Runner”, has seen immense demand for his fan meetings. His fan meeting in Korea attracted 700,000 people, and his Asia fan meetings have also sold out.
