In The Cursed, Moon Chae-won plays Chae-won, a woman dissatisfied with her looks and consumed by appearance obsession. She admitted, “Unlike Solar, who really enjoys horror, I actually don’t watch scary movies because I get frightened easily. I never thought I’d receive an offer for this genre, but I felt it would be a new experience and I became curious about the result, so I decided to take on the challenge.”

She added, “I thought it would also be refreshing for fans and audiences to see me in this kind of role, so I began filming with an open heart.”

Speaking about the role, Moon Chae-won explained, “As a woman and as someone in a profession that’s always under the public eye, wanting to look prettier is something I can easily relate to. That made it natural to approach the character, but I tried to take it further by portraying someone more deeply consumed by desire.”

She continued, “Even when others see you as beautiful, you might focus on your own complexes and flaws until you can’t escape from them. It’s not just about appearance—it’s the same with emotions. That’s the mindset I carried into the performance.”

Despite the chilling subject matter, the set was warm and lively. Moon Chae-won shared, “When filming action scenes with Seo Ji-soo, her cheerful and playful personality made the atmosphere so pleasant. I had a great time shooting.”

The Cursed tells the eerie story of a ghost-trading market that appears whenever a certain window opens, portraying people who risk everything to obtain what they cannot have. The film is set to hit theaters on September 17.
