Former Japanese idol and current beauty influencer Miyu Sakaki (榊美優), who once belonged to the AKB48 sister group STU48, has set social media ablaze by publicly revealing her dramatic transformation after spending over ¥6 million JPY (approx. NT$1.21 million) on cosmetic surgery.
The 23-year-old recently posted side-by-side before-and-after images on her X (formerly Twitter) account, unveiling the results of multiple procedures including rhinoplasty, eye bag removal, chin lift, and facial liposuction. Her striking new look left netizens stunned, with many commenting, “She looks like a completely different person!”

During her idol years, Sakaki stood at 152 cm and weighed 42 kg. Under intense industry pressure, she was urged to slim down, leading to a dangerous cycle of anorexia. At one point, she weighed only 36 kg. She confessed to episodes of binge eating—once spending ¥4,000 in one sitting at a convenience store—raising alarm among fans about her physical and mental health.
These days, Sakaki has adopted healthier views on eating. She’s ditched extreme diets, no longer restricts carbs or salt, and has broken out of the binge-starve cycle. Her current weight is a stable 38 kg.

The former idol also worked on changing her habits like teeth grinding and tight-lipped expressions, which helped reshape her jawline and give her face a more refined look. Her transformation, she explained, was initially motivated by the desire to be loved and accepted within the idol world. But with time, her mindset shifted.
“At first, I just wanted to be cuter so I could be more popular in the group,” she admitted. “But now I realize that cosmetic surgery should be about pleasing myself—not others.” She added that she now feels more confident than she did five years ago and no longer places as much value on others’ opinions of her appearance.

The internet quickly took notice. Comments flooded in praising both her physical and emotional transformation:
- “She’s so cute now—both women and men can take inspiration from her.”
- “A completely different person, but beautifully done.”
- “I admire her not just for her looks, but for working on her mental health too.”
Miyu Sakaki’s candid approach to body image, surgery, and self-love is resonating with a new generation that values transparency over illusion—and she’s proving that reclaiming control of your image isn’t just skin-deep.
