Comedian Kim Hae-joon claimed plagiarism by girl group NewJeans, providing laughs
On the July 19th broadcast of Comedy TV’s “Tasty Guys”, a special episode titled “Seyoon Without Seyoon” aired, featuring Kim Jun-hyun, Hwang Je-seong and Kim Hae-joon without Moon Se-yoon, who was on an overseas schedule.
During the episode, the members talked about Moon Se-yoon going to Japan for filming and seeing NewJeans, leading to a conversation about the group.
Kim Hae-joon humorously claimed that NewJeans had copied his character Choi Joon from the past, drawing attention.
Hwang Je-seong, with a serious expression, warned “You’ll get into big trouble if you say the wrong thing“, but Kim Hae-joon continued, showcasing a video of NewJeans singing “Coffee With Me”. He insisted, “The song is by Paul Kim, but that tone is Choi Joon’s.”
In response, Hwang Je-seong pushed back, saying, “They sang Paul Kim’s song. That’s mental illness.” Kim Jun-hyun added, “Even Choi Min-sik and Jung Woo-sung say ‘gorwe’ instead of ‘geurae (yes)’ in interviews.” Hwang Je-seong also mentioned “Britney Spears also says ‘wow’“, making it difficult for Kim Hae-joon to continue his claim.
