Min Hee-jin Opens Up About Allegations of Badmouthing NewJeans Members Through KakaoTalk

ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin addressed the controversy regarding alleged backbiting about NewJeans members

At 2:30 PM on May 31st, CEO Min’s second press conference was held at the Korea Press Center in Jung-gu, Seoul.

During the Q&A session, CEO Min was asked about the recent uproar over a leaked KakaoTalk chat where she allegedly badmouthed NewJeans members. The reporter noted that this seemed contradictory to her previous public appearances and asked if she had spoken with the members since then and if she had any statement to make.

CEO Min responded, “To explain this thoroughly would take a long time. Honestly, I barely remember the contents. Do you remember your KakaoTalk chats from 3 years ago? I can’t really recall those conversations. When I look at the contents, I think, ‘Did I really say that?’

She further stated, “This isn’t a crucial issue and the contents are insignificant. NewJeans members didn’t contact me about this chat. They reached out because they knew I was hurt, not because of any alleged backbiting. Mentioning NewJeans wasn’t an attempt to sway public opinion.”

CEO Min continued, “The topics that came up at that press conference were due to the situation. I had a lot bottled up. I’m not an actor; I don’t stage my emotions. People imagining that I deliberately dressed a certain way or staged my appearance is cruel. As I mentioned, I hadn’t washed or changed clothes for three days. If I had changed clothes and put on makeup for that press conference, that would have been more psychotic.”

She emphasized, “Discussing this isn’t relevant to the main issue. To protect the members and the artists, we should refrain from mentioning them. Even if people are curious, adults should hold back. Protecting them means not dragging them into this non-issue.”
