South Korean rapper and producer MC Mong, who previously stepped back from the spotlight following a high-profile military service evasion controversy, is once again facing negative headlines. Now active as the head of an entertainment company, he has recently been entangled in multiple disputes—ranging from alleged poaching of EXO members to rumors of an affair with a married female entertainment executive. The latest issue, however, involves alleged illegal acquisition of prescription medication, drawing significant public attention.
According to Korean outlet E-Daily, a former manager surnamed Park, who worked with MC Mong for around 10 years, was heard in a phone call dated June 10 speaking with another manager from his former agency, One Hundred. In the alleged recording, Park stated, “I wasn’t just picking up a prescription on someone’s behalf. I received the medication under my name and gave it all to him.” He reportedly added that the transfer was done at MC Mong’s request.

The recording also included mention of another individual, referred to as “Kwon,” with Park saying, “Kwon would probably know better than I do,” suggesting that others may have been aware of the situation. Kwon is said to be a former board member of Big Planet Made Entertainment, where MC Mong was also involved, and has since left the industry.
MC Mong denied the accusations in his statement to E-Daily, claiming the recording was fabricated. He maintained that he has always visited hospitals personally and received prescriptions under his own name. However, when pressed further, he reportedly adjusted his stance, saying, “I’m not entirely sure. Maybe I did take one or two pills. Insomnia is extremely painful, and I might have taken some leftover medication from Park.”

Both individuals were reportedly treated at the same hospital in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam, Seoul, where they were prescribed zolpidem, a sleep aid that requires a prescription. Under South Korea’s Medical Service Act, proxy prescription pickups are allowed only under specific, strict conditions. If medication was indeed obtained under another person’s name and transferred, legal issues could arise.
The controversy adds to MC Mong’s string of recent public disputes, further intensifying scrutiny around his activities both as an artist and as an executive in the entertainment industry. As discussions continue online, the case also raises broader questions about medical prescription regulations and accountability within the celebrity sphere.
