Manchester United Football Club has officially announced the signing of Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford FC for a reported fee of £71 million, including £65 million in guaranteed payments and an additional £6 million in performance-based add-ons. The 25-year-old Cameroonian forward has agreed to a contract running until June 2030, with an option for a one-year extension.
According to Daily Mail, Mbeumo’s transfer marks Manchester United’s second major acquisition of the summer following the £62.5 million signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers. This move reflects Manchester United’s continued commitment to prioritizing football excellence and underscores the club’s sustained global appeal.
Despite reported interest from several Premier League rivals including Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Newcastle United, and Chelsea, Mbeumo remained steadfast in his desire to join Manchester United.

Negotiations with Brentford proved challenging, with the London-based club initially demanding a higher fee and attempting to influence Mbeumo’s wage expectations. Ultimately, an agreement was reached, bringing relief to both the player and the United management team.
Mbeumo began his professional career at Troyes AC in France before joining Brentford in 2019 for £5.8 million. During his time at Brentford, Mbeumo was a consistent performer, averaging 18 goal contributions per season since the club’s promotion to the Premier League.
His proven record and versatility are expected to bolster United’s offensive capabilities, addressing a key area of concern from the previous season, during which the club scored only 44 league goals — their lowest total in the Premier League era for a non-relegated side.
In a statement released by the club, Mbeumo expressed his enthusiasm:
“Joining Manchester United is a dream come true. This club has been in my heart since childhood, and I am eager to develop under manager Ruben Amorim and compete alongside some of the best players in the world.”
Mbeumo is set to join United’s squad during their pre-season tour in the United States. He is expected to make his first appearance in red during a friendly match against West Ham United on July 27. The player was unable to feature in the recent fixture against Leeds United in Stockholm due to the late completion of his medical examination.
Financially, the transaction will be structured in four installments. United initially had two offers rejected before meeting Brentford’s adjusted valuation.

As the club continues to manage its financial structure, this signing is likely to mark the conclusion of United’s summer transfer activity. Though other players such as Ollie Watkins have been loosely linked, current indications suggest no additional high-profile arrivals are anticipated.
