In the Feb 12th and 13th episodes of tvN’s Monday-Tuesday drama “Marry My Husband“, Lee Yi-kyung, who portrays the despicable character Park Min-hwan, delivered a chilling ending, intensifying the tension of the drama to its peak.

Park Min-hwan learns from Oh Yu-ra (BoA) that Kang Ji-won (Park Min-young) has inherited 80 billion won worth of assets. Determined to take it away, he decides to kill Oh Yu-ra and Kang Ji-won. However, his plan to disguise the murder as an accident fails due to Yoo Ji-hyuk (Na In-woo)’s intervention. To make matters worse, he becomes shaken when Kang Ji-won, who came to find him saying that she broke up with Yoo Ji-hyuk, tempts him.

Park Min-hwan, overwhelmed by Kang Ji-won’s seduction, informs Jung Soo-min (Song Ha-yoon) of the divorce without hesitation. Dreaming of a romantic date with Kang Ji-won, Park Min-hwan, unexpectedly criticized by her and vehemently rejected, becomes greatly angered. He visits her during night overtime and throttles her neck, pushing Kang Ji-won into a life-threatening crisis.

Lee Yi-kyung brilliantly portrays the multi-dimensional character of Park Min-hwan, who may seem simple and one-dimensional, by leveraging his accumulated experience from various works to depict Park Min-hwan in a more intricate manner, receiving acclaim. The synergy between the character and Lee Yi-kyung’s immersive acting heightens the enjoyment of the drama.

Particularly, Lee Yi-kyung’s true value as an actor was fully revealed in the ending of episode 14. With just his gaze, Lee Yi-kyung expressed the sense of inferiority and violence inherent in Park Min-hwan, overwhelming the atmosphere of the drama in an instant. Lee Yi-kyung’s bold yet delicate acting that transcends genres once again sends shivers down viewers’ spines and heightens expectations for Park Min-hwan’s future actions.
