‘Maria’ Jennie Flees After Being Recognized in Italian Guesthouse

In the show My Name is Gabriel, BLACKPINK's Jennie fled in a hurry when her identity as a "popular idol" was discovered.

In the final episode of the JTBC variety show My Name is Gabriel, aired on the 4th, the last chapter of Jennie’s story as Maria, the owner of a guesthouse in an Italian countryside, was unveiled.

As the guesthouse owner, Jennie prepared an Italian home-cooked meal featuring “Fini Fini Pasta” and personally served it to three male guests visiting from France.

Even during the meal, the guests kept casting intense glances at Jennie and her mother. At one point, one of the guests said, “My sister’s room is full of Maria (Jennie) posters.”

Eventually, they became curious if Maria was actually BLACKPINK’s Jennie and even rehearsed their questions beforehand. Watching from the studio, Jennie was surprised, exclaiming, “I didn’t know! Really?”

When Jennie approached the guests’ table, they brought up their prepared question, saying, “We have something we’re curious about. The pasta was delicious, but we feel like we’ve seen you somewhere before,” leaving Jennie flustered.

Jennie tried to play it off, responding, “I don’t know what you’re talking about. I work here and paint.” However, they persisted, saying, “I saw your poster in my sister’s room. You were in a group, are you sure you don’t sing?”

One of the guests even hummed the line “BLACKPINK in your area” from BLACKPINK’s intro, putting Jennie in a tight spot.

Still, Jennie insisted, “I don’t know.” When they asked, “What about the name Jennie?” she replied, “It’s a pretty name, but I’m Maria. Let me know if you need anything,” before quickly retreating away from the guests.

Despite her departure, the guests remarked, “I don’t believe her,” and “She’s lying,” which made viewers laugh.
