The map of a village in Busan caused controversy when it revealed where BTS Jungkook’s relative used to live without the male idol’s consent

On the map, a house is marked with the caption, “The house where BTS Jungkook’s grandmother used to live”.

A map of a village in Busan has revealed the address of BTS Jungkook‘s relative’s house without the consent of Jungkook, BTS, and villagers.

According to the Busan Ilbo, Yeonsan Village Social Welfare Center in Yeonje District, Busan, together with the Yeonje District Community Security Council, has published the map of Yeonsan village in 2021. The map shows the main locations identified divided into public areas, tourist attractions, and schools in the vicinity of Yeonsan village.

In the middle of the map, there is a place marked with the caption The house where BTS Jungkook’s grandmother used to live” (currently vacant). This controversial site is classified as a tourist attraction. The house is currently vacant and uninhabited.

According to the media, the village cartographer claimed that the caption was written as such with the purpose of promoting the village’s tourism. Yeonsan Village Welfare Center explained to the media, “When drawing the village map, it was suggested that interesting elements should be included, so we decided to include locations that related to idols.”

However, according to this media, it was confirmed that the marking of the place was implemented without discussion and consent of Jungkook, BTS, and villagers.

Nearby residents complained about the inconvenience and criticized it, calling it an invasion of privacy. Most of them are not satisfied. One resident told the media, “I don’t know where the location is, but young people come and ask for the location of this place.” He said, “It is rude for locals to mark a residential area on the map as the residence of a famous singer’s grandmother.”

People also criticized revealing the whereabouts of a relative of a celebrity without prior consent. One resident told this media, “Standing in support of BTS, it feels good to be near where they used to live, but it’s inconvenient when people gather around residential areas without getting consent and go to places where his relatives live. I think so.”
