The 2025 MAMA Awards proceeded in Hong Kong amid the devastating high-rise fire at Wong Pok Court, Tai Po, which occurred on November 26. By November 28, the fire had claimed 128 lives and left 79 injured. In response, Hong Kong authorities raised the alert level to 5, the highest since the 2008 Mong Kok club fire.

The ceremony, held at Kai Tak Stadium on November 28, saw Chapter 1 hosted by actor Park Bo-gum and Chapter 2 scheduled for November 29 with actress Kim Hye-soo. Due to the tragedy, the red carpet event was canceled, and global presenters including Maggie Cheung and Chow Yun-fat withdrew. The awards ceremony proceeded with a subdued tone, with all presenters and performers wearing dark attire and remembrance ribbons.
