22-year-old maknae of a famous Japanese idol group announced withdrawal from the team and retirement from showbiz 

Marius Yo (22 years old), the youngest member of Japanese group Sexy Zone, announced his retirement from the entertainment industry.

On December 27th, Marius Yo announced through his agency Johnny & Associates that he would leave the group and retire from the entertainment industry.

He said, “The years I’ve spent with Sexy Zone fans are my valuable property. I’ve never regretted becoming an idol”.

Marius Yo mentioned mental and physical breakdowns as well as poor health conditions as the reasons for his retirement from showbiz. He has been receiving treatment from a medical expert in mental and physical health in Germany since December 2020.

Marius Yo continued, “I feel exhausted imagining the picture of the future when returning to Japan and the entertainment industry. After much consideration, I thought of retirement. I talked to the members and they also showed support for my health and dream.”

He said, “I’m studying politics, philosophy, law, economics, etc. I want to use my knowledge to grow into a human being who can help the international community”, adding “I’m truly grateful to Sexy Zone members and fans.”

With Marius Yo’s withdrawal, Sexy Zone will be reorganized into a four-member group, including Kento Nakajima, Fuma Kikuchi, Shori Sato and So Matsushima.
