Singer Jo Yu-ri has returned with a cool dance song.
The showcase to commemorate the release of Jo Yu-ri’s first mini-album “Op.22 Y-Waltz : in Major” was held at Yes24 Live Hall in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul.
On this day, Jo Yu-ri said, “I received lots of calls from IZ*ONE members. Now I can meet members who are doing promotions on music programs. They told me to shoot the challenge together when we meet later.”
She added, “I haven’t let the members hear my new song yet, but I think many of them would respond that the song is good as soon as it is released today”.
“Op.22 Y-Waltz : in Major” is Jo Yu-ri’s first new music release 8 months since her single album “GLASSY” in October last year. “Y-Waltz” is a combination of “Y”, the initial of Jo Yu-ri’s name, and “Why”. She explained, “I tried to capture my present when I’m 22 years old”, adding, “The album has a total of 5 songs. Each track reveals a different image of me.”
The title song “Love Shhh!” is a song that combines Jo Yu-ri’s powerful vocal and exciting sounds that will make listeners move their bodies without knowing it. It delivers the message that tells people to love and enjoy their life with excitement and confidence in any situation.
Regarding the title song, Jo Yu-ri said, “It’s a song that says ‘I’m glad I broke up with you’”, adding, “‘Shh’ means to be quiet but it can also be interpreted as ‘Damn’ in English. It’s a word with double meaning, but in this song, it refers to ‘Damn’ more.” She added, “The wit in this song is the killing point. We usually see content like ‘I can’t forget you. Please come back’ in a breakup song, but I tried to make a breakup look cooler.”
Jo Yu-ri emphasized, “I want to show everyone my strong appearance. If you look at the color, it’s red”, adding, “I often finish a recording in about a day, but this time I did it in 2~3 days. I put all my heart and soul into strengthening my vocal and voice tone.”
“Op.22 Y-Waltz : in Major” consists of 5 songs, including the title track, “Round and Around” featuring Jo Yu-ri’s delicate singing skills, the exciting song “Rolla Skates” with singing rap, the sweet ballad song “This Time”, and Jo Yu-ri’s self-composed song “Opening”.
Regarding her self-composed song “Opening”, Jo Yu-ri said, “People in my company said they liked the song so I gained more confidence and decided to release it”, adding, “I want to make an energetic band song for my next self-composed song. I’ve been a huge fan of Baek Ye-rin sunbaenim since a long time ago. She’s my role model”, raising high expectations.
Jo Yu-ri sold 75,000 copies with her debut single, making a successful debut as a solo artist. Regarding this, she said, “I didn’t expect it at all so I was really surprised. Thank you so much”, adding, “This makes me feel more responsible and want to show better performances. Please look forward to it.”
Jo Yu-ri also showed her determination, saying “Results are important but I think I should enjoy it with my fans. I believe I should grow up by myself.”
Meanwhile, “Op.22 Y-Waltz : in Major” will be available on various music sites from 6 p.m on the same day.
