The drama "Lovely Runner" has sparked mixed reactions among viewers due to its comedic elements
tvN’s Monday-Tuesday drama “Lovely Runner” follows Ryu Sun-jae (Byeon Woo-seok), a famous idol who passed away under suspicious circumstances, purportedly by suicide, and Im Sol (Kim Hye-yoon), a fervent fan thrown into a serious crisis by his death. The latter is inadvertently given the chance to go back to the past to save Sun-jae and herself.
The series has gained popularity with its compelling love story and the chemistry between the leads, leading to rising ratings and topicality each week.
However, recent episodes have drawn complaints from some viewers, particularly regarding the use of comedic elements. The comedic scenes are seen as uncomfortable and disruptive to the overall flow of the drama.
Dissatisfaction grew notably after episode 12 aired on May 7th, featuring a scene where Ryu Sun-jae’s father Ryu Geun-deok (Kim Won-hae), is stuck in the bathroom and has to rinse his hair with toilet water. This scene prompted comments such as “It’s really disgusting” and “Was this scene necessary for the story?” Viewers expressed they felt too repulsed to continue watching.
Conversely, some defended the humor as appealing to older viewers or reminiscent of the past.
