Putting aside the sweet dating moments, “Lovely Runner” Ep 12 begins with both Im Sol (Kim Hye-yoon) and Sun-jae (Byun Woo-seok) being shocked by the news that the murderer Kim has escaped. Sol decides to inform the police that the murderer will come to the abandoned house to kill her on May 10. Sun-jae overhears this conversation and remembers Sol’s warnings, making him certain that something will happen on that day. He immediately heads to the abandoned house and does everything he can to ensure Sol’s safety.
In another development, Sol, Sun-jae, and Tae-sung go to Danpo-ri to find In-hyuk and persuade him to continue pursuing his musical dreams. An accident occurs when Tae-sung’s car crashes into the sea, resulting in the three friends having to stay in Danpo-ri. Here, they share memorable moments of youth together, and Sun-jae sincerely persuades In-hyuk to join him. Meanwhile, Tae-sung takes the opportunity to have a private conversation with Sol, admitting that he genuinely likes her and is not using her. Both feel relieved after expressing their feelings.
In Danpo-ri, Sol continuously has a bad feeling, seeing visions of herself trying to escape from the murderer. However, she keeps this secret from Sun-jae, wanting to protect her loved one.
That night, Sung-jae and In-hyuk go to the beach, leaving Sol and Tae-sung at home. Wanting to sleep in the same room as Sol, Sun-jae makes strange noises and pretends to be scared of ghosts. Understanding her boyfriend’s intentions, Sol hugs him to sleep, initiating a kiss and confessing her feelings for Sun-jae. Sun-jae reciprocates with a deep kiss and affectionate gestures, driving viewers wild with the sweet “bed scene”.
At the end of episode 16, Sol decides to leave Sun-jae. She realizes the future has changed as she no longer encounters the murderer in Danpo-ri. This implies that the events of May 10 may not occur, preventing her from capturing the murderer. She pretends to have left, leaving the 19-year-old Sol in the present. Unbeknownst to her, as soon as she leaves Sun-jae, the murderer appears.
